Our Journey

At Kafea Terra UK we believe in a better planet for all. It starts with the actions we have been taking so far and what we plan further down the line. Undertaking our B-Corp accreditation has been an important milestone. Our journey began in June 2022, it has been a great effort to change how we do things and officially join in 2026 a global community of businesses committed to balancing purpose and profit, using business as a force for good. Certified B Corporations™ are companies verified as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This rigorous assessment means taking accountability and being responsible for 5 key pillars of social and environmental impacts. We will continue to strive further by committing to our actions. Understanding our impact has never been clearer and by using this data we can take clear steps to consistently improving.

What is B Corp?

A B-Corporation is a company that has been verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

stands for Benefit for all.

Governance: Evaluates a company's mission, ethics, accountability, and transparency. It checks if the business legally considers stakeholder interests alongside profit.

Workers: Focuses on employee treatment, including fair wages, benefits, health and safety, professional development, and overall workplace culture.

Community: Looks at how the business impacts and engages its local communities, supply chain practices, diversity, and civic engagement.

Environment: Measures overall ecological footprint, managing resource use, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and air/water emissions.

Customers: Assesses how the company serves its clients through ethical marketing, data privacy protection, feedback channels, and solving specific social or environmental customer needs.

A company’s overall mission, ethics, accountability, transparency and how they build their vision and values into their bylaws. Best practices are focused on how they engage employees, board members, and the community to achieve their mission, as well as employee access to financial information, customers’ opportunities to provide feedback, and the diversity of their governing bodies. At KAFEA TERRA UK, we have implemented specific measures to support this commitment. Most recently, we updated our Articles of Association to reflect the legal language of B Corp standards. This framework is not only embedded in our daily operations, but also legally binds us to uphold the highest standards of social and environmental performance, using business as a force for good.

A business’s efforts to create positive impacts for their workforce. Best practices in the work environment look at aspects like employee compensation, benefits, training and ownership opportunities, as well as assessing working communication, job flexibility and worker health, safety practices and overall work conditions. The strength of KAFEA TERRA UK lies in its people — they are the core of our purpose and progress. B-Corp reflects all our core principles when it comes to our workforce, and we have worked hard to align the points made above. Employee happiness surveys, 360 feedback, personal development plans, ethical pension schemes and insurances are just a few of the things we implement to create the best environment to thrive.

How a business contributes to the economic and social well-being of the communities in which they operate. Best practices explore initiatives and policies directed at community impact, including embracing supplier relations, social engagement, charitable giving, and strong, diverse communities. At KAFEA TERRA UK, we believe in creating meaningful impact within the communities we serve and source from. As a coffee wholesaler, we prioritise ethical sourcing and long-term supplier relationships that support local economies and fair labour practices. We actively contribute to community development through charitable giving, social initiatives, and partnerships with organisations that promote inclusion and sustainability. By fostering strong, diverse relationships across our supply chain and beyond, we ensure our business contributes positively to both local and global communities.

How a company works towards a more sustainable and regenerative planet by reducing their footprint and putting their impact on the air, climate, water, land, and biodiversity first in their business practices. This section explores the impact of a company’s facilities, materials, emissions, and resource and energy use, as well as transportation/distribution channels and the environmental impact of their supply chain. We work closely with our partners at Eumelia Ltd to not only understand our environmental impact but to continuously improve it. We actively measure all three scopes of our carbon emissions and engage regularly with our supply chain to reduce our footprint across every stage. Beyond our operations, we invest in environmental projects in the countries where our coffee is sourced, giving back to the communities that support us. As a Carbon Neutral company, we remain committed to driving progress and striving for even greater environmental responsibility.

How a company serves their customers, offering products or services that support the greater good. Best practices explore whether a company adds value to customers’ lives by providing critical services like education, healthcare, and finance management, as well as engaging in ethical marketing, data privacy and security, and feedback channels. KAFEA TERRA UK is committed to upholding the highest standards of customer stewardship, built on trust, transparency, and long - term value. We actively manage the impact and quality of our products and services, striving not only to meet customer expectations but to exceed them - delivering exceptional experiences at every touchpoint.

OFFSET PROJECTS

Our processes and products become carbon neutral. Our emissions are balanced by an equivalent amount being removed from the atmosphere. Offsetting carbon emissions, in addition to avoidance and reduction, is an important step in holistic climate action.

BUENOS AIRES RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT:

Buenos Aires Ceramic is a red ceramic factory located in Buenos Aires municipality, in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil. The ceramic factory produces ceramic bricks and flagstones, mainly for the regional market in Pernambuco. Buenos Aires Ceramic Fuel Switching Project was validated in April 2010 under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Social Carbon Methodology. The project activity is applying for Gap Analysis from VCS and SOCIALCARBON® Standard to Gold Standard via a gap analysis validation. The voluntary project activity avoids GHG emissions by substitution of non-renewable biomass with renewable biomass to generate thermal energy in the process of burning ceramic devices.

OROMIA COOKSTOVE DISTRIBUTION PROJECT:

The Oromia Cook Stove Dissemination Project is a small-scale project activity that will introduce Improved Cook Stoves within the terrestrial boundaries of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The ICSs shall reduce the non-renewable biomass consumption required to provide thermal energy for domestic cooking requirements.

VICHADA CLIMATE REFORESTATION PROJECT (PAZ):

The climate project is located in the Orinoco Department in Colombia, and its main activity is reforestation. The objective of the project is the creation of close-to-nature forests with the main goal of producing high-quality hardwoods combined with carbon sequestration while stabilising and restoring fragile and degraded areas in an economically, socially, and ecologically viable way. Overall, the climate project objectives are the establishment of profitable production and conservation systems, enabling the enterprise to work in a beneficial way, with the complement of sustainable investment opportunities.

RENEWABLE ENERGY POWER PROJECT BY DDWL

The main purpose of this project activity is to generate a clean form of electricity through renewable wind energy sources. Dev-Dwarka Wind Project Limited is the promoter of the proposed project activity. The project activity involves the installation of a 40 MW wind power project in Gujarat. The project will replace anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) estimated to be approximately 82,220 tCO2e per year, thereon displacing 84,096 MWh/year amount of electricity from the generation mix of power plants connected to the grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel- based power plant.

CHAIYAPHUM WIND FARM POWER PROJECT:

The project activity is an 80 MW wind power project promoted by Chaiyaphum Wind Farm Co. Ltd. The purpose of the project activity is to generate clean electricity with the utilisation of wind energy. The project will replace anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) estimated to be approximately 73,396 tCO2e per annum, thereon displacing 128,947 MWh/year amount of electricity from the generation-mix of power plants connected to the Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT), which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel-based power plant.
